#OneWorldinAction Contest

Did you know that:

  • In Canada, 57 million non-recyclable straws are used daily. By saying no to a straw and advocating for restaurants, campuses and cities to ban straws, you contribute to reducing plastic waste and reduce our environmental impact.

  • 80% of the world’s food is produced by women. By purchasing fairtrade certified products or supporting women's cooperatives in developing countries, you contribute to women's empowerment and access to opportunities.

  • In developing countries, 95% of employed young women and men work in the informal economy. By volunteering as a youth or economic advisor in developing countries, you contribute to empowering young women and men and foster an environment of inclusivity all over the world.

Are these actions are similar to something you did or are doing in Canada or overseas? We want to know about it!

Enter the #OneWorldinAction contest

Submit a photo of a concrete action with a short descriptive text that explains how your actions contribute to a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable world (maximum 75 words).

The contest is open to WUSC local committee members as well as current and returned Uniterra program volunteers.

The deadline to submit your action(s) is December 2, 2018.

Photos submitted will be shared and people will be invited to vote for the most inspiring action. A photo exhibit will then be developed, based on the most inspiring actions and photos selected by the public. This travelling exhibit will be presented around Canada.
